Netgear MR814v1 extend its coverage
The wireless card was recognized by the system ie I could see and configure it in with the WEP keys, SSID etc. but I got no response as to wether or not my AP was found. Anyway I have since given up and I uninstalled SuSE and installed another distribution. Fedora hoping that I would get better luck.

Problem with Netgear Wireless AP and Adapter
Just so everyone knows, it was not the Netgear wireless AP at home. I don't know the exact model number of the AP at home, it's one of those cheap ones populating shelves at your local office supply store. Just before I replaced it I hooked up to the wired ethernet to check. Same problem there, seems the supplied

New house needs wireless - what to buy?
I
have noticed the laptop (a Compaq 900) gets pretty hot, as does the wireless card, and wondered if this could affect the connection. I've got a Netgear 54mbps AP and PC card. My PC card also gets quite hot but I've not noticed any problems. You didn't mention if your system is 802.11b or g Geoff Lane.

Compact Netgear wireless access point/router for travellers...
That assumption turned out to be wrong :( It was going to replace the netgear originally. (a) Use Linksys as a router, with the Netcomm as just a 'dumb' modem (in Bridge mode) --or-- (b) Use Linksys as a wireless access point only (no routing enabled), and use the Netcomm as a router.

AP gateway Address
I used a Netgear wireless router and used it as a switch + WAP. (The router itself sucked anyway). Disabled DHCP on this guy. Has anyone seen a 802.11b Wireless Access Point that has a integrated ethernet hub or switch? I would like to be able to daisy-chain a number of WAPs, and it would be nice to not have to

QUESTION: Wireless AP with Built-in Hub
After upgrading the firmware on my Netgear wireless AP/router, the card sees the router, and the router sees the card. What ISN'T happening is the AE card isn't pulling an IP address from the router. It's self-assigning itself an IP address that has nothing to do with anything; I think it's a time-out default.

Wireless and ADSL?
One thing is that the SSID should not be fred and rather should be the name of the access point. The software for the netgear should have and AP (Access point) (makes the network invisible...you have to know the name * WEP: 128-bit with a password of "rickmoranis" I have a Netgear wireless card for my iPAQ.
